We are thrilled to host the winners from the North Carolina Sons of the American Revolution Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Orations contest! 

The Joseph S. Rumbaugh Historical Orations Contest, open to all students in grades 9-12, supports the Secondary School and SAR education objectives by perpetuating the stories of patriotism, courage, tragedy, and triumph of the men and women who achieved the independence of the American people. These stories are universal ones of man’s eternal struggle against tyranny, relevant to all time, and will inspire and strengthen each generation as it is called upon to defend our freedoms on the battlefield and in our public institutions.

The following winners will be presenting their orations at 1 PM at the Orange County Public Library:

Jonathan Paul, 2025 North Carolina SAR Oratory Winner, and 2025 SAR National Oratory Winner, will present his oration "American Heroes : What Makes an American Hero?"

Yashwanth Kollipara.jpeg

Yashwanth Kollipara, winner of the Alamance Battleground Chapter Rumbaugh Historical Orations Contest, will present his oration “How does the Boston Massacre still affect us today?”

Aria Browndyke, 2nd place winner of the General Francis Nash Chapter Rumbaugh Historical Orations Contest, will present her oration “The Intolerable Acts: A pivotal moment in American history.”
